I’m a freelance costume designer and teacher in New York. I’m a graduate of NYU's Tisch School of the Arts (BFA) and the Yale Drama School (MFA). I have designed shows Off-Broadway and at regional theaters around the country. I have taught costume history and design and at Brooklyn College, Muhlenberg College and SUNY Purchase.
I love fashion history! After Yale, I studied fashion history in the museum studies masters program at FIT. Any favorite time periods you ask? hmmm. I do love Western Wear, 19th Century horse back riding clothes, a nice long liripipe or pigache (look it up!) and the (pre-punk) aesthetic movement!
I love learning new things- especially if it involves making things with your hands. If I can watch a video or read how to do something new, I’m in my happy place. I moved to an apartment with a dirt patch right before Covid, so I learned how to city garden, lay pavers, and rat proof! I’ve been doing a little furniture refinishing recently, and redesigned / project managed a couple of kitchen renovations! I can’t believe all that drafting in grad school paid off (even I was surprised).
I am super into Board games, card games, puzzels, riddles .. whatever you have! I don’t mind losing.. but I hate cheaters and people who don’t take the game seriously! Current favorites games are the board game Wise and Otherwise, a card game called Estimation, and the new NYTimes game, Connections. I do love poker, but I’m terrible at it… and the fact that I don’t mind losing means I should stay out of casinos!!!
I love to travel. ( pretty cliche, right?) Everyone loves to travel. This year I made it to the New Orleans, the bay of Fundy in Canada, Paisley Park in Minneapolis, and the Olympic Peninsula for some whales and rainforests! All my favorite photos of me are “I have the strangest feeling I’m being followed” photos that I take on my travels.
